Search Options
Search Categories - This will search the categories for your keyword. For example medieval in the search box with the category box selected will return a list of categories with medieval in the name (Medieval mens adult, medieval plus female, etc...), it will also list below that the individual costumes with medieval in the name or description.
Search for all of these terms - If you put more than one word in the search box this will search for products (or categories if selected) that contained both words (e.g. "knight chainmail" would return only costumes with both words.) If you unselect the box then you will get items with knight OR chainmail.
Case Sensitive -This will search for items using case sensitive. This is generally not recommended (searching for knight would not return any costumes with Knight if this is checked.) Should be used in rare cases.
Search as Phrase - Will search for multiple words in your search and return items that have those words ONLY as you have imputed them. For example, if you search for medieval knight it will return only product where "medieval knight" is listed in the name or description. If the description states "Medieval queen goes great with knight costume" then it would not list that product as the words are not together.
Search Key Words - Key words are entered by ordercostumes.com to help with searches. For example if you search for wizard of oz then you may get all the wizard of oz costumes without us using keywords but some costumes may not have Wizard of Oz in the description. It may just say Lion costume. The key words we would add for lion costume would include wizard of oz so when you searched for it you would be shown that as an option even though it may not have that in its description. We recommend you leave key words checked.
Search Fields
Where search options determine what items your search looks for the searched fields determine what parts of the products to search. Your limited to name, description and code described below:
Name - The name is the main product (or category if selected) name. On the category pages it is a clickable link next to the photo's and on the product pages it is in bold. It is usually short, such as "Medieval Knight Bugundy".
Description - The description is the detail on the product page about the costume. It may talk about sizing, what the costume is made of, what type of event it is best for, etc... It is usually a paragraph or two. We recommend you always keep name and description on.
Code - Code is our Inventory control # and is how we track costumes internally and allows for an easy cross reference in customer service issues. You would have to know the exact code to use it so you would have had to visit our site, find a costume, write down the code, not save the page to your favorites and then go to the search and find it. Of course its likely easier to find the item by searching the name or description but in rare cases it may be easier to use the code. It also is useful for our customer service reps in some instances.
Narrow search option
By selecting one or more of the check boxes you can narrow your search to include only items that are in the categories listed. For example, if you want to search only adult costumes you can select All Adult Costumes. Selecting MORE than one box includes both items in your search. If you select teens and children and search for knight it would return any knight items in EITHER category. You can either select the categories and hit the search button or if you have already searched you can hit the sort button or the search button.
Sort
By selecting here and hitting sort you can resort your completed search by name or by price in either direction.
3) Browse by Category - If you do not know what you want and just want to look around you can browse costumes by category by selecting form selecting from the navigation manu on the left. Most categories can then be narrowed down more by subcategory. For example, adult costumes will show you all adult costumes, you can then select female adult costumes from the menu one you are in the adult costumes and that will narrow down the list of items for you. You can then narrow things down even more (for example religious female costumes).
Checking out
Our checkout process is rather simple. When you add an item to your basket you will see the basket contents on the right hand side. Once you are done shopping you can hit the checkout button to strat the checkout process. You do not have to create an account in order to place an order. The benefit of an account is that your information is saved for futeure purchases and all your order history is kept together. If you do not create an account you will be able to check orders but will have to check them out one at a time.
The main checkout screen asks for your shipping and bill information. Please be as accurate as possible. The phone number should include your area code. There is an optional fill in box for you to give us any special instructions. NOTE: Please check your email address as most correspondance related to your order will be done via email.
Once you hit continue you can choose the shipping method and select your payment method. We accept Visa, MasterCard, AMEX and Discover. You then will enter your credit card info on our secure server and the information will be validated and your order will be processed.
You can print your order and you will also receive an email confirmation of your order.
